Coming to iOS

Goals worth keeping, with people worth keeping them with.

Name what you're working toward. Give it a real number and a real date. Then check in — on your own, or with the three or four people the goal is actually about.

No bank connection. Reminders are free, permanently.

The deliberate part

Footing never connects to your bank.

Not a missing feature — a decision. Bank data is expensive, regulatorily heavy, and it still can't make anyone follow through. You can always spend the money you told an app you were saving.

You say it out loud

A goal you've named, with a number and a date attached, is a commitment. A balance that drifts up and down is just weather.

The date does the work

Every goal needs a real end date. That's what turns "I should save more" into a pace you can be ahead of or behind — and a day where it either happened or it didn't.

People notice

Three or four people who know what you're working toward will do more for your follow-through than a spending chart ever has.

How it works

Three things, and none of them is a spreadsheet.

01

Declare it

A name, a target amount, and a target date. The date isn't optional — it's the whole mechanic. Add a cover photo of the thing itself: the beach, the car, the ring. A goal with a face is a goal you keep looking at.

Mexico, with the group
$2,00018 Oct 2026Weekly

Twenty weekly check-ins at $100 each. That's the pace — Footing tells you the moment you're off it.

02

Check in honestly

Every check-in has three answers, not two. Most weeks aren't a clean yes or no, and a product that only offers those two teaches you to lie to it. Partial is a real answer, and the coach treats it like one.

Bring the pod

A pod is three to five people working toward the same thing. Private group chat, shared photos, everyone's check-ins visible. When it's a trip, the pod is simply the people going.

Pods

Your pod sees that you showed up. Never what you have.

Small and private — three to five people, not a public feed. Accountability works better at that size, and a setback costs less socially.

What your pod sees

  • That you checked in, and your streak
  • Milestones the group hits together
  • Photos you chose to share with them
  • The chat, which is where the trip actually gets planned

What it never sees

  • Any dollar amount of yours
  • Balances, income, or transactions — Footing doesn't have them either
  • Photos you kept private to yourself
  • A notification when you leave — you can go quietly, and your goal is unaffected

The coach

It watches whether you show up, not what you spend.

Without transactions there's nothing to analyse but behaviour — which turns out to be the honest signal anyway.

You

Missed check-ins, streak length, and your pace against the date you set. Two misses in a row changes how it talks to you.

Your pod

When one person goes quiet while the rest stay active. When the group is behind pace with the deadline close. When everyone hits a milestone at once.

The goal

Days remaining against percentage confirmed — the difference between "on pace for October" and a flag that says you're not.

Three ways it can talk to you

You pick a starting point when you sign up. The coach adjusts from there based on what actually works for you — the direct voice is earned by a pattern, never switched on to nag.

EncouragingSupportive, small-tweak framing. The default, and most of what you'll hear.
Accountability partnerDirect, and it references the pattern by name. Earned after repeated missed check-ins.
NeutralPlain status, no emotional framing, for people who'd rather just have the number.

Capped at roughly three touchpoints a week, and you can turn it down further. It's a coach, not a notification budget to be spent.

The archive

The goals you missed stay in the app.

Most products quietly delete the ones that didn't work out. Footing keeps both, and the coach writes something honest about the miss rather than stamping it failed. A product that needs every goal to succeed isn't being straight with you.
